Islamic Center changes Namaz timings on Holi, Friday prayers will be done after 2 pm

As Holi, the vibrant festival of colors, coincides with Jumme ki Namaaz on March 14, the Islamic Center of India has announced a change in the timing of Friday prayers. The new schedule states that Jumma Namaaz will now take place after 2 PM. The decision has been taken to ensure smooth observance of both religious occasions while maintaining harmony between communities.

Issuing an official advisory, the Islamic Center urged all Muslims to offer Friday prayers after 2 PM. Officials stated that this adjustment has been made to prevent any inconvenience for those observing Holi and to allow Muslim devotees to complete their religious rituals peacefully. This move is in line with efforts to maintain social unity and avoid unnecessary disruptions.

Speaking on the decision, Maulana Rashid Firangi Mahali emphasized the importance of mutual respect and cooperation. “As you all know, Holi falls on March 14, which is also the second Friday of Ramzan. The Islamic Center of India has officially extended the prayer timing to accommodate the festival. Similarly, our Hindu brothers have also adjusted the timing of Holi processions in many places. This gesture reflects the spirit of harmony and respect between communities,” he said.

To further promote communal harmony, the Islamic Center of India has also advised mosque committees across the country to extend Jumma Namaaz by an hour. This extension ensures that neither Namazis nor those celebrating Holi face any inconvenience. The initiative aims to foster peace and goodwill between different religious communities.

In addition to adjusting the prayer timing, Maulana Rashid Firangi Mahali suggested that Muslims should, if possible, offer their Jumme ki Namaaz at home to avoid congestion and ensure smooth observance of Holi celebrations. He urged people to remain vigilant against rumors and misinformation, stressing that maintaining peace should be a collective effort.

The decision has been widely appreciated as a step towards strengthening communal harmony in India. By coordinating religious practices with mutual respect, both communities set an example of peaceful coexistence. The advisory reinforces the message of unity, ensuring that Holi and Jumma prayers can be observed without conflict.
